The name Saraswat suggests the legendary origin of the community. They were settled by the banks of river Saraswati and over time traveled to the coast of Goa and Gomantak. Post the occupation of Goa by the Portuguese, some migrated further south to North Karnataka (Karwar) and South Karnataka (Mangalore). Being settled in the coastal region, the use of dry or fresh fish and coconut was done in abundance. Pallavi's father in law is a well known historian who has a lot of stories to share about their community and about Mumbai. Her family is excited about sharing their culture and scrumptious food in the traditional way, on the "Chaurang".
