Rajputs have a very ancient heritage and their ancestors invariably were connoisseurs of good food. Fine kitchens were maintained and the best cooks were sought after - sometimes there was a cook for each recipe. Among them it was a status symbol as to whose table provided the most unusual and luxurious fare. The cooks treated their recipes as heavily guarded secrets and theses precious formulas were often passed down, from father to son; others seemed to have been lost over time. Prashasti is a Sengar Rajput also referred to as “ Singar” of the 36 Kul ( 36 Royal Clans to whom all Rajputs belong). There are many theories to how this race began, the most popular being that Raja Dashrat married his sister to Rishi Shringi and the race which began was called Sengers. Currently, Raja of Jagammanpur in UP, is the hereditary head of all Sengars. Prashasti's mother belongs to the Chauhan Family of Neemrana and she is married to a Dikhi Rajput of Bihar. Due to the vast exposure, she was fortunate enough to relish a few traditional Rajputi recipes of these 3 regions and replicate it for others.
