Learn to how make Modaks - Class conducted by a home-chef at her home in Bandra West, Mumbai

Modaks are cooked in all Maharashtrian homes, typically during the festival of Ganesh Chaturti.
Modaks are dumplings with a sweet filling made of jaggery and grated coconut. The original variants are called Ukdiche Modak which transalates into steamed modaks. They are the favourites of Lord Ganesha.
If you read the recipe for making modaks, you might think that it’s simple. However there are a lot of finer aspects which need to be considered. Right from making the perfect dough to making a filling which is sweetened just right, making modaks is more of an art than science.
Once you arrive, I will speak to you about the modaks. I specialize in making the steamed version of modaks only. We will then move to the cooking table where you will get to make your own dough. We will also be making the filling. And then we will steam the batch you have made.
You can carry a box to take home the batch you have made! The entire experience will last for about 2-3 hours.
Please note: I stay on the 3rd floor and the building doesn’t have an elevator. I promise you that the climb will be worth the weight of modaks in gold :)
