Kerala, also known as the 'Land of Spices' produces and makes frequent use of black pepper, cardamom, clove, ginger, and cinnamon in its cuisine.Meet Joseph and his family at his beautiful home in Amaravathy, Fort Kochi. You will be welcomed into their home in a traditional way and served a refreshing non-alcoholic drink while you interact with the family and get to know them better. He will accompany you on a market tour to witness the Chinese fishing nets in action, the local fish market and will guide you around the spice and vegetable market. Once you are back home, indulge in a cooking session with Joseph's wife or mother-in-law and learn the secrets of cooking amazing Kerala food.The family will happily share the recipes and secrets of making that perfect Appam (rice based pancakes), Fish curry, Vegetable Thoran (a traditional delicacy of Kerala made with seasonal vegetable and grated coconut), Chicken Curry and Chapati (Indian flatbread). There is no “standard menu” as it varies based on the season and what’s available in the market.The entire meal experience will last for 4-5 hours.Please note - This is not a professional cooking class but rather an opportunity to cook and dine with a local home-chef. The experience will be as much about the stories around the food and local culture, as it would be about the meal itself.
