Nashik is an ancient city of Maharashtra known for its industrial belt and quite recently for the beautiful vineyards. Located around 4.5 hours from Mumbai and 5 hours from Pune, Nashik is home to my family for quite a few years. I reside with my family of 5 in our home based in Jaideep Nagar. I am a Bohri who quite often cooks for my family and friends. We always have our meals in the traditional Bohri way, by sitting around a steel plate called the Thaal. The food is served course wise starting with something sweet (Mithaas) at first which is then followed by a savory dish (Kharaas). In this meal experience, we shall start by learning few of the favorites of Bohri food. You can accompany me to the kitchen to make the mixture for Shami Kebabs. Use your hands to get the mix right before shaping them into small patties and frying them off in some oil. You can also learn to make your own Keema Samosa's. Try your hand at folding the samosa to give it that right triangle shape and then deep frying it in oil. After this fun and interactive class, you can head to our living area to relish the rest of the meal. You will be seated on the floor around the Thaal. If you do have any health issues we can make arrangements for you on a chair or sofa.The whole experience can last for about 2-3 hours.Please Note - This is not a professional cooking class but rather an opportunity to cook and dine with a local home-chef. The experience will be as much about the stories around the food and local culture, as it would be about the meal itself.
