Based in one of the prominent suburbs of Mumbai, nestled in a quaint by lane in Khar, home chef Pooja's in-laws’ ancestral home is testimony of a thriving Pathare Prabhu community in Mumbai. Punjabi by birth, Pooja's passion for cooking and learning new cuisines and techniques has made her master the authentic Pathare Prabhu dishes post marriage. With the help of her mother-in-law, she has learnt and now spearheads the old family traditions of making the Pathare Prabhu masalas every year during summer at their home - right from the sourcing of spices to the pounding of masalas, Pooja overlooks all the operations and makes sure there is enough masala prepared for the entire extended family. Pathare Prabhus are one of the oldest settlers of Bombay (now Mumbai) and indulge in seafood and meat on equal levels. Home chef Pooja will give you a taste of all the staples prepared in every Pathare Prabhu household. Get ready for a complete food and culture tour :) P.S. Pooja lives in a beautiful heritage bungalow in Khar, it is on the ground floor and opens to their garden, hence there is no air-conditioning! But worry not, the home is very airy and there are enough fans in their drawing room! There is also JB, a friendly black labrador who will be keeping himself busy in the garden :)
