Being a Delhite, food has always been a vital part of my childhood memories. When I think about my childhood, what stands out is our visit to a native village. The food was exceptional because of the fresh ingredients being sourced from the village itself and the simplicity in the way it was made. I still source my pickles from my father’s village as lime and mango pickles are made by the villagers at Khadi outlets using the fruit from our orchards. Back during school times, I took some cooking classes and learned to make lemonade, coffee, sandwiches, and caramel custard!
Known for our never-ending variety of food, Delhi is considered as a foodies’ paradise. This is your chance to taste the traditional Punjabi meal with a dash of cuisines from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana.
But before that, how about submersing yourself into the Indian culture? If there are any women in the group, I will be teaching them how to drape an Indian sari. Once you have clicked all the pictures, we can move back to our cooking. We will start with the cooking class by preparing a mix vegetable using authentic spices. Later, we will prepare rotis (Indian flatbread) from a scratch. I will be also telling you a few cooking techniques which will be helpful for you in the future. After the cooking class, we will move towards the dining area and relish the scrumptious meal.
The entire experience will last for about 2-3 hours.
Please Note - This is not a professional cooking class but rather an opportunity to cook and dine with a local home-chef. The experience will be as much about the stories around the food and local culture, as it would be about the meal itself.
