Kolkata is a food lovers paradise. Being the second largest city in the country after Mumbai, this city has a variety of food to offer, considering its history and rich cultural background. The Bengali’s are known for their lavish meal spreads, especially during their festivals and weddings.A special Bengali feast is a celebration of what the city has to offer, served course by course. Ranging from fish to meat, Kolkata has a wide spread of food to choose from.Home chef Madhusree (lovingly called Mithoo by her family) is a self-taught homemaker who will cook up some Bengali favourites like Begun Bhaja (Eggplant Fry), Murgir Jhol (Chicken Curry), Fish Chops, Chutney (A must have in every Bengali home) and many more dishes and share some stories about the famous Bengali dishes. There will be a step by step class given on Luchis (Fried Flatbreads). Learn how to roll your own flatbreads, hopefully round in shape :).Continue the cooking session by learning an amazing but simple Prawn Malai Curry (Prawns in Creamy Curry) with the help of home chef Madhusree. Venture into a Bengali kitchen to smell the aroma of regular home cooked food and participate in making your very own meal. The entire experience will last for about 2-3 hours. Please Note - This is not a professional cooking class but rather an opportunity to cook and dine with a local home-chef. The experience will be as much about the stories around the food and local culture, as it would be about the meal itself.
