Sangita is a great food lover, experimenter and not only passionately cooks but enjoys it even more when it comes to serving her creations to friends and family ! Having stayed in different parts of India and exploring different cuisines, it brought her closer to authentic food and food habits of Gujarat, her hometown. She strongly believes that the traditional authentic food is immortal and therefore relevant even today for their balancing of craft, taste and ingredients for health and wellness.
Finding Gujarati Bhog especially Undhiyo to be served in the meal was a sheer serendipity in itself. Its been an year and my craving for a sumptous Gujarati meal wasn't getting satisfied and then I came across authentic cook. About our Hosts - Mr. and Mrs. Shah A family grounded by traditional values and yet have a desire to explore different cuisines and places. Their hospitality was at its best. Their place was very well decorated and subtle at the same time. We had another company named Prince their 7 year old dog who was as fun loving as the family. About Food For me the entire food went around Undhiyo and Undhiyo again. Undhiyo is a very traditional Gujarati dish which has around 10-12 kind of vegetables and takes a sufficient time for the preparation. The Undhiyo served was amazingly tasty and colourful. The kachoris were hot, crispy and had a generous filling in it. Kadhi was not as sweet as they serve in Rajasthani or Gujrati resteraunts. It was very subtle and light in nature. Moong daal (dry form) was another simple and a charming dish. They also had an entire army of different Achaars (Pickles) that blended very well with Poori and other dishes. **** Next winter, I plan to take a full day course with Mrs Shah to learn to make Undhiyo and have a meal with them.
Right from our entry and serving us the welcome drink and till the paan , our very loving hosts took very good care of us. The lunch was so delicious that we wished we had more appetite. Each dish was prepared lovingly and was so so tasty, including the entire box of chutneys and pickles. We thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend it to everyone who wants a review .
