The Koli community is known to be one of the early inhabitants of Mumbai city. While most of us know them as sellers of fish and may have interacted with them for buying fish, very little is known about the amazingly delicious food they prepare at home.

This is a simple, easy to make crab curry recipe by Rajini ajji and her daughters. Do try it at home and let us know how you like it!

RECIPE FOR 10 SMALL CRABS:-

INGREDIENTS FOR PASTE:

1 whole coconut (grated)

1½ tbsp Cumin seeds

1½ tbsp Corriander seeds

1 pod Garlic cloves

1 inch Ginger

6-7 Green chillies

½ cup Corriander

 

METHOD:

1. Grind the above ingredients together and make a thick paste

2. On a pan, take oil and add the paste to it. Add Garam Masala, Turmeric Powder, Salt and Red Mirchi powder to it.

3. Cover and cook till the oil starts leaving at the edges. Add water and bring to a boil.

4. Drop in the crabs (whole) or pieces. Cover and cook for 15 mins.

 

Enjoy the crab curry with rice or bhakris!
